About Me

Me, ya favorite brown boi

Hi, my name is Sooky and I use the He/Him series pronouns.

Three words I would use to describe myself are creative, hands-on, and technical. I'm creative because I have a passion for creating and designing. I'm hands-on because I love working with my hands, whether tinkering with different types of devices or even cars. Finally, I'm technically-inclined because I enjoy working with, learning about, and using technology to make our lives and the world around us better.

I specialize in digital design, which includes logo creation, identity rebranding, presentations, social media content and copy creation, and more. I have experience creating websites with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as through CMS platforms like WordPress. I have also done plenty of print design, including fliers, brochures, booklets, magazines, and certificates.

Aside from my graphic design work, I have experience with supervising, strategic planning, non-profit management, client relations, teaching, facilitating workshops and presentations, administering, data collection and management, and technical troubleshooting.

Sticky Note Project

As part of my duties at MPDC, I lead weekly graphic deisgn workshops as an instructor. At the start of our 2022 summer program, we had all youth (~60) write down fun-facts about themselves. It was the graphic design team's job to take those sticky notes and create visually appealing designs out of them. I created a few myself, but I was mainly in charge of bringing everything together into the following video.

Cadillac Information Design

This project came from my love of cars and design. I chose the Cadillac brand because I have an appreciation for their styling and strong brand identity, plus I drive one.

The first piece consists of two timelines that tell the Cadillac story through time, and there are many different smaller details throughout.

The second piece is showcase of the different rear ends that cadillac has created throughout the years. It was inspired by Cadillac's jet-engine inspired tailfins from
the 50s and 60s.

Shipwreck Museum Rebrand

The goal of this work was to create a new brand identity for the Shipwreck Museum. I created a new logo, logotype, various print deliverables,  a responsive website mocku , and several different magaizine covers and spreads for concept magazines to be displayed in the museum.

MWANGA Rebrand

I worked with a team to create a new brand identity for a nonprofit organization called MWANGA, based in The Democratic Republic of Congo, that speacilizes in helping people from rural areas get access to food, agricultural supplies, clean water, and medical help. My team created a new logo and color system, a fully functional website on WordPress, and various potential products for them to sell. My main contributions were setting up the WordPress site as well as concept product creation.

This is a preview of the website. It is unfortunately not live right now.

Medford Educational Fund Brand Redesign

This project was another brand redesign for the Medford Educational Fund, an education-focused nonprofit based in my hometown of Medford. I created several different items for the brand including a new logo, logotype, website with mobile layout, social media pages, and merchandise to support the foundation.

Xbox World Magazine

This project was to design a realistic magazine about something I'm interested in, with a logo, type and color system, and typeset articles. I chose to feature Xbox because I'm an avid gamer and I really enjoy the Xbox ecosystem and their games. I also think they provide a wonderful opportunity to create some awesome spreads.

Type Comparison Posters

The goal of this project was to find two somewhat similar typefaces to compare and contrast against each other in an stylistic way. The project was initially supposed to be one poster, but I enjoyed this project so I created a 3 piece series.
